Dragon Age: Origins - Animating Skeletons

Dragon Age: Origins is a single-player fantasy RPG video game developed by Bioware studios, like so many games before, like: Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights. The game is set in Ferelden, one of several countries that makes up the mythical continent of Thedas. Like Neverwinter Nights before it, Dragon Age: Origins is expanded by so many modes and expansions, making the world of Ferelden (Thedas) very dynamic and artificially a living place.

When playing RPG games, I prefer to choose a mage class, mostly because they are more fun when level up occurs (usually, there are more options to be choosen). Also, mage requires a strategic style of play, not hack'n'slash, which I prefer, in good combination with story elements of the game. Mages in Dragon Age: Origins are either humans or elves; dwarves cannot be mages, since they are unable to connect with the Fade (metaphysical realm that is part of Thedas which mages tap into when casting spells).

Morrigan is an example of a mage character (non-player). She's a Witch of the Wilds, a specialized shapeshifter.

One of my favorite mage spells in Dragon Age: Origins is called Animate Dead. The caster summons a skeleton minion from the corpse of a fallen enemy to fight alongside the party for a short time, although, as a puppet of the caster, it will not use any talents or spells without specific instruction.

Animate Dead

Skeleton is a corpse animated by a possessing demon. Upon finding itself trapped within a body that cannot sustain it, the demon is driven insane... it seeks to destroy any life that it encounters, attacking without thought to its own welfare.

Undead Skeleton

Animate dead is categorized as the Spirit spell. When mages use spirit spells, they can affect their enemies' bodies, minds and magic. To find out more about spirit spells, you can check here.
