Andy Warhol Art
I still can't believe that you can get famous by turning soup cans into art! I guess I'm just jealous that I didn't think of it first!
When I think of the name of Andy Warhol the first thing I think of is one of his Marilyn Monroe portraits. The world in general, however, would probably think of Campbell Soup when his name is mentioned. Andy Warhol's first art exhibition was held in 1962 Los Angeles when he showed his 32 Campbell's Soup Cans.
Andy Warhol's art was about sameness, it was a tongue in cheek look at mass production. This was reflected in his 32 Campbell's Soup Cans as well as his portraits of the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Muhammad Ali and Elvis.
Andy Warhol seemed fascinated by fame, he said that he loved Los Angeles and Hollywood, but that it was all plastic. The celebrities seemed to love Andy Warhol as well and he did a number of famous portraits of them.
Andy Warhol is the most recognizable pop art artist which is why so many people want a copy of his art in their homes. Posters and prints are affordable, unless you are lucky enough to be able to afford an original Warhol art print.
