Soron STX Reel
I compared a lot of spinning reels before purchasing this one. Did a lot of research online through fishing forums etc. Two reviews sold me on this reel - one was by a company that services all types of reels, the other was by an avid fisherman who completely disassembled the reel and took pictures of the entire breakdown. Both of them were extremely impressed with the construction quality and materials quality of the reel. They both thought it was superior to the Shimano Stradic which costs about $40 more and is considered to be one of the top spinning reels on the market.
I've fished with it about a dozen times using 8lb mono and a Bass Pro extreme medium duty rod. The reel is very smooth and casts great. It's really nicely balanced and it's quiet. I will probably buy an ultra light model some time down the road. Great reel you won't be sorry with the purchase. The price from Amazon was better than anything out there also.
