Do A Very Simple Textured Ceiling

How to Do A Very Simple Textured Ceiling

This ceiling texture is very easy to accomplish, although it is a slow process it is not hard to do. The final texture can be made to vary to any degree with just a little bit of practice. This does a great job of cover that not so perfect ceiling, with out a lot of hard labor or cost, yet achieves stunning results.

Things You'll Need:

paint mixing sticks

drywall joint compound

semi-gloss latex paint

car wash sponge

dry wall finishing tray

Painters scraper

Step ladder

(1)

Begin by sweeping and cleaning the ceiling, be sure to brush away any loose or flaking paint. If the ceiling you are working on is already textured scrape the ceiling to remove any high peeks left by the previous finish, it is not required to be completely flat and smooth just get it close.

(2)

Using your dry wall finishing tray add your paint and joint compound to the tray. There is no exact mixture here you just want to thicken the paint slightly, to suit your technique and speed. I usually go a little less than a two to one mixture, two parts paint to one part compound. Mix this very carefully and fully.

(3)

With your texturing mixed begin by dipping the sponge lightly in the mix and spreading on the ceiling panel. When you have deposited some amount of the texturing begin to test your pattern. You can do many types of texture with this one sponge. Try different techniques and application motions to achieve the effect you like best and continue this process throughout the room. In my case I used a
(1)-Slap
(2 )-smear
(3)-Twist
(4)-Pull
technique to achieve this light form of texturing.
