Getting Ready to Plant My Garden
Spring has finally sprung, and I am getting ready to plant my garden.
I have been digging through the dirt and removing rocks. I am blessed with an abundance of slate, and I am using it to make paths through the garden.
I have designed an awesome garden plan; it is always helpful to have a map or plan for your garden ahead of time. I have turned have of the soil; I have 3 out of 6 beds turned and almost ready.
started moving the compost pile from last fall, and I am adding it to some of the beds. I think adding the have composted matter to the dirt will help the process, and my plants will probably like the texture and drainage too.
A bunch of the irises I planted in the fall are all coming up so that is awesome. I created borders around my vegetable garden with irises and hostas in the fall. I had a bunch that had to be divided, and I figured they would be good for helping make paths and keep the water in the garden. They are also going to look really pretty which never hurt anything.
So I am going to start with cool weather crops next week; I am thinking lettuce, spinach, brussels sprouts, cabbage, and onions, but the weather has been weird lately so we will see.
Anyway happy gardening to everyone out there, and Go get DIRTY!
